A Trip to Holland

No, we did not go to Holland, The Netherlands, but to Holland Michigan. Even though a trip to the real Holland would have been wonderful, time and money just would not permit. So we did the next best thing and took a trip to Holland Michigan. We enjoyed taking this trip with my whole family and had a wonderful time. We went during their annual tulip festival. It was fun seeing all the tulips in bloom, wooden shoe dances, traditional costumes, and much more. Here are a few of the highlights from our trip.

Madisen and Katie

The beautiful tulips in bloom.

Madisen with a traditional dutch hat on.

Macaylee and Miriam watching the chickens (they are defiantly city kids).

Chris and I having fun.

Katie, Madisen, Miriam, & Amy learning to do the wooden shoe dance.

My little niece Annika and her first ride on a carousel.

Miriam enjoying the swing ride.

More fun on the swing ride.

Macaylee and my Dad watching on as everyone else rode the swings.

Macaylee and Auntie Rachel enjoying the wooden shoe slide.

Family picture in front of a windmill.

The last morning we were in MI we went to their street cleaning. There were hundreds of people dressed in the old traditional Dutch costumes. They started by doing some traditional dance in their wooden shoes and then they got their brooms out to clean the street.

Here was a man demonstrating how they used to make wooden shoes.

We ended our day watching Holland Michigan's  annual parade and thought these two little girls and their dog  were cute!
