Gratitude

I first read about this idea over on Monica's blog about a month ago. She had started a gratitude journal with each of her children. She would write what they were thankful for in their journals each night before they went to bed.

I thought that this was a wonderful idea! After I read "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp, I knew I wanted to start this with my girls. I talked to Chris about it and he thought it would be great for them. I purchased a journal for each of them. Each of the girls keep their journal next to their beds.

What a blessing it has been to hear each night what they are thankful for.......

"My Birthday"

"Mommy and Daddy"

"Sunday"

"Maddie got to go to ballet and that Amy could come over"

Even this morning Macaylee come down stairs and was very concerned about something in her room. We could not figure out what she was talking about so Chris took her up to her room and came down with her journal. We had forgotten to write in it last night and she wanted us to write down what she was thankful for......

"For going to sleep"

There are many nights that Macaylee asks to have all that she is thankful for read back to her! We talk about oh how many things there are to be thankful for; the many gifts the Lord gives us!

"Going down the slide at the water park"

"For riding bikes"

"Fun with games"

"For Daddy working"

I love hearing what each girl comes up with. Here are the things that were written down tonight. There is one that especially brought a smile to my face!

"Reading books"

"Money"

"The ABC's and the letter M"

"Giving thanks always
 for all things
 to God the Father
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Ephesians 5:20
