Over the last few years we have been considering ways that we can reach out to our neighborhood. One of the times we have chosen to reach out is during Halloween. I know that there is much controversy surrounding Halloween. We found
this post very helpful on this very subject. We began see this time as one of the only times that our neighbors come to your home and take anything that you give them. What a great opportunity to plant seeds in their lives!
For the last few years we have made up little goodie bags filled with a few pieces of candy and a tract (we have gotten all of our
Halloween tracts from
Good New Tracts). Last year we passed out 125!

Well, this year we wanted to step up our outreach. So we decided to hand out cups of Hot apple Cider and Hot Chocolate to the adults and give them a bag. In these bags we included a brochure about our church, a tract and, a few pieces of candy. We were blessed to have the help of some friends from church, who also live in our neighborhood, who came over to help pass out the goodies!
We set up a table out on our driveway and from there handed out our Hot Cider and Hot Chocolate. We had a great time meeting our neighbors and giving them a warm drink on a cold night. We were able to hand out almost 175 tracts with candy to the children, 60 warm drink and 25 bags to the adults. We are looking forward to next year!

What a fantastic idea! We are trying to look for ways to minister to our neighbors as well. I can see this in our future!
Also, thank you for your prayers over the last 6 months. I think of you guys often. God is good in the midst of sorrow!
